My name is Krisztina Csetvei and I saw the light of day on the 8th of January 1983 in Bácstopolya, a small town near Szabadka (Serbia). I spent my childhood in Budapest, and as a teenager I moved to Szentendre with my family (Mom, Dad, Sis and Nero, the dog is family) – then came high school, university (BME-GTK), internships, work and lots of work, Life with a capital L and again, I found myself in Budapest.
There was no doubt about me studying at the University of Technology and Economics, and it was also clear that I was interested in economy, marketing and management (rather than subjects like networks and systems or chemical operations). As a senior I had to do a project task (which helped us prepare for the thesis) – I must have seemed pretty terrified at home, because the next day one of my mother’s best friends helped me out by showing the way… Do you like wine? – they asked fearfully. The answer was obvious. I like good wines, people, I like to learn, so I applied for a marketing internship at Béres Vineyard and Winery, which had recently been built. I worked under Gergely Orbán sales manager (currently Borbán Winery), and I just listened, learned, tried… Then, as a Christmas present from the Béres family, I received a WSET elementary course at the Wine College led by Gabriella Mészáros and Gábor Rohály. (This was in 2006.) I was the happiest and proudest person! I successfully completed the course and I started to taste wines at home, collect pretty labels (that if I see now, I smile), pay attention to food and wine pairing.
Life is unpredictable, I spent three years in the marketing department of a big corporation, I found myself in a huge and unknown world, where I wanted to stand my ground and I think I succeeded. I learnt a lot, made plenty of good friends, I completed my BME MBA postgraduate course and in my free time, I attended wine tastings.
